The 22 artists in residence at the Cubberley Artist Studio Program are delighted to finally welcome the public back to their studios! Come meet the artists, visit their workshops, see their art and participate in hands-on artistic activities at a special Open Studios event on Saturday, November 13 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Come see the incredible diversity of style of these talented artists who will be in the E, F and U wings of the Cubberley campus, located at 4000 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.
Ahead of the Open Studios event, Cubberley artists are releasing limited edition works as part of their collaborative project called ArtUp. Free prints are distributed throughout the city ahead of the event and the first 200 visitors to the Open Studios event will receive their own free limited edition risographic print from one of the participating artists. The prints will also be displayed in studio F4 during the Open Studios. For more information on this project, visit artup.studio
There will be free hands-on activities for all ages, including a children’s art table in Studio U5 by multimedia artist, arts educator and best-selling author Rachelle Doorley, founder of an online space called Tinkerlab which helps families bring the joy of doing into their lives. Artist and author Danièle Archambault, holder of a Ph.D. in Linguistics, will lead a comic art activity for all ages at studio F3.
Interdisciplinary artist Elizabeth Bennett will set up her large, whimsical outdoor chess set, Cone set, for the pleasure of all during the event! Cabinetmaker artist Darryl Dieckman will be giving talks on tools, demonstrations and shavings for everyone in the F5 studio. Painter and photographer Conrad Johnson at studio E4 will offer a floral photography workshop. Artist Perry Meigs will have a table outside his E6 studio with a leaf-rubbing art station. Costume designer and multimedia artist Jennifer Gonsalves will also host an outdoor art activity outside of her U1 studio.

This event is free to the public and will take place at the Cubberley Community Center, 4000 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. A face mask is required to enter the studios, which are located in Wings E, F and U at the north end of the Center. Also, be sure to stop by the Friends of Palo Alto Library (FOPAL) book sales rooms from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
