Young Artist Studio presents a Christmas show at the senior center

Local entertainment troupe The Young Artist Studio put on an energetic Christmas performance at the Champagnolle Landing senior wellness center in El Dorado on Thursday, performing a series of holiday songs and dances for the crowd of the hour. lunch.

Performers Jordan Ford, Curtis Jefferson, Kayla Jackson, Shaleaya Easter and Kaitlynn Ford, along with Aaron Shepherd on keyboard and Stephanie Owens, director of YAS, harmonized some Christmas and gospel classics and showcased dancing skills on songs that are both dark and energetic.

Owens said the group recently performed at Mulekick @ MAD for the Kiwanis club reunion on Wednesday and will then perform at TAC House on Saturday.

The six-person group is a significantly scaled-down version of the full show, which Shepherd says features 28 performers in total.

Owens also said Shepherd served as the director for the musical portion of the performance, taking care of the arrangement for each performance.

YAS was organized by Owens “just a few years ago” according to previous News-Times reporting, and also serves as a performing troupe for talented local youth and a community service group.

In addition to their performances, the group hosts annual giveaways of school supplies, Christmas banquets that provide gifts to low-income children, and other community events. Recently, YAS members participated in Anti-Drug Red Ribbon Week in October.

The organization is accepting donations for its annual Christmas toy drive, which began November 26 through Saturday. Monetary donations can be sent on CashApp to $ YASGROUP1214.
